And I've already seen some sweet stuff, you guys! A Dodge GTX (Argentinian Dodge Dart) and a Dodge Dart parked side by side at a used car lot, a handful of Opala SS's at another lot, a 56 Ford Pickup just passed by the hotel window, a neat 52 Chevy truck outside a casino yesterday and a BMW E21 with Alpina spoilers and decals parked in front of a bar. I know I should have pictures for SR20, but I was driving, so... yeah.

Oh yeah, the local shops also carry Matchbox cars, which are non existent in Brazil.

I think there's a weekly classic car gathering in Punta del Este, at least in summer (now). If you're wondering why there's so many classic cars still around, just look at the prices of new cars there.

Ayup, that's the one, the GTX, though tha Dart is actually a brazilian Charger. Still, that's pretty much what I saw, though the Dart was a bright red SE woth vinyl top, while the GTX was a candy shade of orange with some bodywork underway.

Obscure orange Dart with left-over Plymouth badges is some serious #mebait. One day I'd like to import a Charger, maybe one as a project.

Well, they're well over the 25 years mark already, and it would probably be much easier to maintain one over there than down here, hahah...

It being a Dart, the build would have tons of possibilities. Another dream of mine is to stuff an Alfa 1.75T from a wrecked 4C into my Dart and use my 1.4T for an Alfa Spider or maybe a Fiat 131 or something.

I was in Montevideo a few years back. What a great city, loved the sweetbreads and blood sausage. Lots of old american iron down there as well. I heard one of the reasons there were still so many american cars on the road down there is that the country banned export of them after a bunch of Hollywood types went down and started purchasing model Ts and the like for use in gangster movies. They felt they were getting a bad deal so they stopped them from leaving the country. Could be true, but who knows.
